I took the right week for a break from publishing TIL 🥵
I use iA Writer for writing @TIL. It is the core of text creation for the entire project.
So… uh, that iA Writer 6 is out(!) and now includes wikilinks? Well that makes my current publishing break that much more timely 🤯
(also: autocompletion for hashtags 👍)
Seeing people engage in the same miserable, moaning, repetitive dialogue about other social platforms is not exactly encouraging when I think about Micro.blog.
I have done this myself, and am attempting to no longer fall prey to these shallow distractions.
I hope others do too.
This is the next set-up I’m looking at (in the future because lol money):
Would like to work away from the base office with both the laptop and iPad. Plus I’ve missed the iPad for certain tasks and hobbies.
Haptic feedback for the iPhone keyboard 🤔
One of things I’m working on for @TIL 2.0 is making the site easier to use. Better access via breadcrumbs, linked pages, etc.
I’m starting to see just how many websites don’t do this sort of thing at all. Most navigation seems to be built around “We want to funnel you to X.”
I’d love to work for Royal Mail; apparently you can just do a poor job and get paid for it anyway.
I’ve reset my Apple Watch and put it away. I’ll go back to it if they ever improve the battery life to a significant degree.
I see Wirecutter has solidified its fall from grace.
Ben Thompson insits “The online world of social media is great because now when you meet up with friends and family, you don’t need to catch-up.”
I’m confused… maybe I’m the weird one… but I enjoy catching up? I like how a gathering starts with that process without a computer.
I’m grateful for the Micro.blog timelines being open and available. Account-based barriers for free social networks on the web are gross.
It’s a shame the live edition of The Talk Show won’t be streamed. That would have been an enjoyable late-night viewing.
I like that Bandcamp is the best supported music platform in the Micro.blog plug-ins directory.
Me: I’m going to stop using Apple’s apps because boo
Apple: Announces actual meaningful improvements
Me: oh… oh ok then
Since there’s a new pin for WWDC, I’ll take this opportunity to share the Pins guide I wrote for TIL… all pins barring the newest are listed therein.
The feed for guides, along with other post types and special filters can be found on the About page.
The new issue of ICYMI is ready to go. Will be released in approximately 6 minutes.
I think it says a lot that writers and bloggers are finding a home in podcasts and on platforms like Twitch, as opposed to other text-based platforms.
Reducing expression down to bite-sized pieces of content absolutely ruins any writer’s chance of producing their best work.

Fixed a handful of bugs this morning, little things that no one notices and bigger things like push notifications and Webmentions broken for the last few days. Think I need to dedicate June to just working on stability.
That work has been apparent to me. 🙌
Safari is probably the most frustrating app I use; some websites and web tech inexplicably breaks when compared to Chromium and Firefox. I’m going to give Firefox a go again, including for password management which has become the only thing keeping me tied to Safari.
I don’t like this thing and will now quit it, and then later fail to stop myself from going back to it, before again complaining and quitting.
— The Internet, every year.
I remember @jack once said “Don’t tell me what you’re quitting, show me what you’re doing next.” 💯
bonus:
How the hell is it June already
Is post scheduling on Micro.blog broken for anybody else? The editor just submits from the Schedule
button as if it’s the Post
