2022
It’s interesting to see how angry some people get when others say “I don’t want a smartphone and don’t like what they’re doing to us.”
Journalling has immediately become a relief valve. I need to try longer form writing and maybe even longer term planning (yearly planners, etc).
For the past four days I have marked the beginning and end of my day by writing in my journal. This is the first time I have ever done so.
Five days ago Patrick Rhone wrote about Journal Day, on The Cramped. I did not partake on that day, however I know I will next year. π
Work for @TIL 2.0 continues and I am looking forward to talking about it closer to the release date. This includes details about my delayed progress (hint: it’s been a summer).
Meanwhile, I have updated the Funding page with links, information, and improved language.
It’s good to see Matter announce their pricing plans. A subscription makes sense.
I’ve yet to decide whether I’ll pay (when I can afford to do so) but even with barely any use I have been impressed by the mere existence of a Firefox extension. That bodes well.
A Micro.blog festive get-together… π€ Like Micro Camp but just the free-form chatty bits. Perhaps somebody already has this planned?
I’m watching and listening to Terry Grier and Page Weber talk. Their conversation has me thinking about how much better I feel about what very online people call “The Old Way”.
Yes, I want my phone to be a phone.
Yes, I want my computer to be a computer.
That’s enough.
I’ve stopped using Maps apps. I started by gradually relying on them less and now I no longer feel concerned about not having instant access to them. Rather, I feel much more confident about asking for help, using signs, etc. Feels good.
I’ve come to realise the reason I have been ambivalent about the potential of a “timeline sync” feature on Micro.blog is that I have long lost any and all desire to allow a timeline to dictate how I spend my time. I do not need to completely read everything; this isn’t work.
Just discovered Nero’s Notes and now I’m really in trouble. Further down the rabbit hole I go… π
Failed to start my journalling this morning. Going to spend time with the journal this evening… typical that I’d start at the end of a day π
Nice one, Tim π

I love the website for Sandwich.
