The bug in the MB app for Mac in which Conversations do not load properly (it just shows a blank view in the right column) is, at times, a feature!
Currently I am too easily distracted and many of the posts and replies from the timeline are very good.
I can’t pick a particular line to quote from It’s Okay to Not Write so I suggest you read the whole thing.
Having fun with iCloud breaking my web browsing. Had to do a bunch of restarts and signing out and back in again; it’s like being back on Windows!

A well earned finally.
Too much of getting Mastodon and those similar platforms to work are “Welcome to my TED Talk” and not enough “Do this without hassle”.
That’s fine, so long as fans of those platforms aren’t lying about it being “simple” or “easy” or whatever.
Looks like Paramount is getting ready to be sold. Time to get used to Disney having both Star Wars and Star Trek.
Currently listening to a 1 hour loop of the main theme from Shadow Of War. 🎶
It is soothing like a lofi ambient mix, whilst also lively enough that it helps me to settle into work, like a lighter version of Einaudi’s music (his work is my go-to for work).
I think I’m Weird Online:
- I don’t feel the need to catch up.
- I don’t feel the desire to “debate for good”.
- I don’t require Likes and Algorithms.
- I don’t assume all technological advancements are good.
- I don’t believe anyone has a right to tell others how to spend their time, especially online.
Missed the latest Analog Tools meetup, which appears to have been a lot of fun.
This is why, ironically, I need to keep working on properly establishing my planning, scheduling, and note-keeping system. Progress is steady, alongside improvements to the new place so I can’t wait for the next meetup.
We are now into year eight of Micro.blog. Feels like a good time for certain weak spots to be corrected — the kind of behind-the-scenes upgrade that is not at all flashy and worth lots of attention but instead guarantees such stability that you basically never notice other people having problems.
Going on a purge of notifications. Thankfully I don’t have to do this often, however this feels like a particularly good year to reign things in tight.
This is a good way to remember that many of the inputs in life can be controlled, at least to enough of an extent to limit sudden impact.
