2023
An unexpected gift whilst I was gone; Patrick Rhone started a new blog and it is of course brilliant.
Given that we’ve just moved to a part of this country in which two ideas are immediately present; independence is paramount and only trust in others can build our world; I am grateful for this.
I failed to participate in the photoblogging challenge β it was a hilariously short-sighted goal tbh β but I have got some work done for TIL and blogged a little, even in our current transitory state.
I’ll take the little wins.
One of the best things about this move β the end is in sight β is that, as a result of our goal to never leave this county, it is highly unlikely our lives will be so affected by upheaval that I’ll so easily fail the Micro.blog photoblogging challenge… again. π
The internet has now become a much less reliable fixture of our life.
My early thoughts are mostly positive. I have quickly entered a personal phase of reflection, which feels much overdue.
Turns out I should have brought at least some of my coffee tools to our temporary home. Itβs a much smaller place but thereβs nothing like the drink you learn to make yourself. For now, a single cafetiΓ¨re will have to do.
Absence and Changelog
Myself, Claire, and the beasties are moving… again! It’s an exciting opportunity, and this time I am freeing up the appropriate space to make it work well. As such any posting here will be sporadic at best.
On this site:
- The home page is now a single-page design with plain text info and a navigation menu.
- Hello is my new page for an introduction to where I am, why, and the best ways to send me a message.
- Links is my new page for getting quick access to my work and related sites.
- Now is my new page for my current status.
Elsewhere, I have a new email address that I am using exclusively for speaking to other folks: hi@swoods.net β I am happy to receive any and all messages about anything at all.
Also, I have reactivated my photo blog. This is primarily for the Micro.blog Photoblogging Challenge but I would love to keep the blog up once that is complete, not least because our new home promises to give us easy access to a variety of awe-inspiring locations.
Finally, as a result of the move, the ensuing chaos, and my determination to mitigate the massive potential for health-endangering stress I am also shelving public updates for TIL. The work will continue where I can fit it in β switching to all-laptop computing after almost two years with the desktop should be fun β but I cannot justify fitting unpaid work alongside The Move. As with the photoblogging, I am already impatient to get back to full working status on TIL; especially with regard to the imminent updates.
We’re holding our breath for this move, since it has the potential to be the last time we ever cross county borders for home and as such I cannot wait to get settled into a house in which we can properly commit to an ever-growing list of goals to accomplish and desires to fulfil.
In the meantime I’ll see you on the Micro.blog timeline, via email, or elsewhere on the web. π
It’s frustrating to feel good about the new photo challenge and then be met with two broken parts of Micro.blog:
- Sunlit, the exclusive photo-sharing app has not updated my custom domain which I changed over a year ago.
- The main app, which cuts off the text field when entering a description.
Using the same trick as last time and bookmarking the Photoblogging Prompts to give me quick access to them outside of Gluon. π·
It’s great to see that the folks at Hobinichi have expanded their ordering system to include international customers.
I have picked out my planner for next year β giving the “Cousin Avec” a whirl this time β and look forward to Friday when orders become available. π
