Feeling relieved to have a project keeping my hands full. At least there will be progress on @til as a result of these damned elections.
Good luck to every USA citizen tonight, and those around the world who are affected by the decisions made by leaders of said nation.
I’ve hit my limit for junk on the web;
- ad-infested websites;
- shallow people with small intentions;
- spammy posting;
- manipulative attention grabbing;
- “free” but not really.
I’m done. Would rather have access to less but each piece be respectful of me as a person.
Hi, US folks. ππ»
I wrote a thing about voting a couple of weeks ago.
Go. Fucking. Vote. πΊπΈ
US soldiers carrying out orders as fake border patrol is literally a rejected sub-plot for Team America: World Police.
It is a lot easier to make a thing for the web and use the silos to share it. That’s where most people are gathered, you can get feedback, and you know you can access it on any type of computer at all. However, the cost is so heavy, and insidious… a dilemma for artists.
It’s interesting to see a Goldilocks effect of sorts upon which the large, silo web companies are heavily leaning. For example, somebody tries Micro.blog instead of Twitter and because Micro.blog isn’t juuuust right they go right back onto Twitter just because it’s familiar.
I don’t have a recommendation for Micro Monday but I do have suggestions:
- Discover
- Including the Micro Monday filter.
- Click the search icon to look for people.
- Micro Monday podcast.
- Following lists on Micro.blog profiles! (
micro.blog/USERNAME)
Enjoy! β
I’d like to thank Google for the sudden inexplicable shitty quality of the photos taken with my Pixel. Good job on that. ππ»
Whoever brought the words Fair Use to prominence via comment sections has to live with the misery of knowing it’s all fucking over those comment sections, a portal through which the collective stupidity of humanity steps every single day.
In the latest round of Microsoft’s Magical Touch:
I am now getting notification sounds from Skype despite having switched off notifications for the entire app.
Just used the new Discover search on Micro.blog for the first time and it worked really well. β
Now that NaNoWriMo has begun proper, it’s worth remembering the special Discover feed for finding posts about the event. ββπ»π
Some weeks are busier than others. Of the many goings-on of my life right now, it’s fair to say Wednesday holds almost all of my attention and takes the greatest portion of my energy; I’ve updated my Now page to reflect this fact. π
Itβs too easy to dismiss Donald Trump as a buffoon β to point and laugh at a man whose worldview is as ridiculous as his hairdo. But to do so is to make light of a very serious threat.
Is it no wonder people choose to pirate so much stuff when the official websites – if they even exist – to buy the things are genuinely terrible. These things are hostile to anybody who would like to actually, you know, use it.
