I understand home ownership comes with a lot of stress and problems of its own but right now I want to strangle the people in charge of social housing in this country. There is no way we can hold private landlords to any sort of standard when the public version is shit.

I’ve reached the stage in life when you decide to try lots of Radio 4 podcasts all at once.

I miss when message boards were much more popular than timelines.

Every single time you want to post about a celebrity politician (you know, the national types who get all of the big press), do this instead:

Post about somebody in your local community who has power. Doesn’t matter which position they hold.

Very quickly realised that avoiding Google on the web is practically impossible. Specifically, the number of people choosing to use Google Analytics and the like means that you are, at the very least, in-directly fed to The Great Maw.

The main reason I’m attempting to live a life without technology built around invasive tracking (shunning certain websites, deleting accounts with Google, Facebook, Amazon, etc) is that I think about the day I will die…

I prefer to be remembered as something other than just data.

Twitter doesn’t work in my browser at the moment.

I think a lot of people could benefit from this exact error.

One of the great things about the internet is that it’s easier for us all to learn about that which formal education excludes. We can get access to knowledge that does fit neatly within the parameters of whatever the current government deems acceptable.

This is important.

Reminders about subscriptions for software, especially for iPhone and iPad:

  • The business model in its current form is fairly new.
  • Apple controls a lot of how this can work.
  • Apple has worked hard to push developers into embracing this business model.

I wish there were tracker-less, open-web-friendly versions of SoundCloud, Spotify, Apple, and YouTube.

Maybe the problem of good and fair compensation for music will always be the immovable obstacle to such a thing.

I need noise-cancelling wired headphones, for use sitting at a desk. Has anybody with a similar set-up found a pair that they like?

Is there anybody out there who uses OmniFocus without a Mac? I’m wondering if it can work just as well with a combination of iPad Pro, iPhone, and Watch.

Turns out fabric softener is essentially a lie. 🤯

Too much of my blogging has focused on the negative side of events. Time to put some effort into highlighting the many good things that our odd little species creates, maintains, and shares.

Televised debate =/= progress of a democratic nation

Remember: there are bad people who want you to get angsty over this television show. Don’t give them the satisfaction; instead, put your energy into those people who are doing the hard work of making things better.

The big updates to are brilliant. Amongst the many things I am still processing, the redesign for the web does such a good job of both putting better focus on the timeline and making it easier to access different features. So very good. 😍

The more I try to use my iPad for basic web-based tasks, the less impressed I am buy this expensive machine. 😒

You seriously can’t manage email aliases for Apple Mail on iOS natively?

I am no longer sharing links to websites with the following:

  • Cookie managers blocking the site.
  • Paywalls blocking the site.
  • Browser notification pop-ups.
  • Newsletter sign-up pop-ups.
  • Invasive tracking technology.

As such I might not link much but at least it won’t be crap.
