First time I had to go looking in the spam folder to find a MB email. It was for confirming a newsletter subscription.

A tool should have rules. When to use the tool. Why to use the tool. Why this tool and not another tool. When to put it away. How to use the tool safely.

Transitions is another great recent post from Annie Mueller.
This is the kind of stuff that makes the thought of resuming lengthier blogging as a practise feel much less daunting.
Annie Mueller’s Writing is a myth is brilliant. You should read it right now. I am going to print it out.
Also, this bit:
It is important, sure, but so is talking and eating and copulating and we do those every day as if they are No Big Thing so surely we could wrap our minds around writing and do it as just Another Thing too.
Hi @Annie. Please stop smacking me in the face. k thx 👍

Added new Preview button for themes in the plug-in directory. This will create a special preview version of your blog to try out the theme. Also improved the tab bar and navigation around plug-ins.
Excellent update.
I wish I could easily embed multiple replies from a MB conversation. This is much better for providing context, which is much better for furthering conversations in long-form blogging.
Quotebacks work ok… ish. However, I think we’ll eventually see a core MB feature solve this problem.
Me: desperately wishes for better communication the web in general
Also me: hates branding
Later Also me: sadly realising that good branding can greatly aide in improving communication
I need to get to work on an idea I’ve had, on and off, about expectations. I’ll start with my blog, and comments specifically; what I do, why I do that, and what is or isn’t likely to happen.
There is a lot of promise in furthering the scope of common shared blog pages.
I don’t think Matt Mullenweg should step down.
I think people who are bothered — and I’m right there with you — should dump WordPress, and remember that this always happens.
Stop trusting idealistic projects based on the words of a single person.
Build alternatives and accept the work.
I love it when this happens.
Very happy to have released the first update to @TIL in a while. 💪

I was recently removed from my coffee grinder.
The apocalypse is a terrifying thought.
If you’re going to spend your energy on caring about slimy Zuckerberg you should at least have the decency to learn about The Molly Rose Foundation.
Grey text on a white background should be considered illegal.
I just completed a full piece of writing for @TIL. The last time I did this was over five months ago.
That feels so good.
There must be a bug with MB profiles because @KimberlyHirsh only has one word in their bio.
It feels so good: my work on @TIL has moved forward from “Planning and Organising and Catching Up With The Space” and into “Work, write, edit, and schedule.”
Not only excited to publish the work but also to open up on how the work is going, more than I have previously.
I somehow only just got the latest update to MarsEdit, and am happy to see this change:
Blog defaults for publish status, comments, text filter, and trackbacks are now applied to Microposts
This means I can use MB Drafts as my place to quickly start and save certain long posts.
“it’s usually the exact same phone as last year”
… and that’s when I stopped paying attention to your review.
Reading Aaron’s post about thunderstorm weather immediately reminded me of two mornings ago, on Friday, when we awoke after heavy sleep to the sound of thunderstorm rain… it was glorious.
When I said we’re settling, that even includes the soothing effect of superior rain.
Now that we’re well and truly settling here I’ve been able to think more clearly about a lot of things. This includes what I want to do regarding my next phone.
I’m going to try to get an iPhone 13 Mini, and use the Focus Mode feature:
I’ve just publicly dinged MB three times in the space of about five minutes. Apparently coffee = critic mode?
