@alanralph We're getting managed power outages here now. This is the first time I've lived so close to the actual countryside and the accompanying conservatism — plenty of activities and fundraising by the nature-based charities and trusts in this region — and so anything approaching reliable internet access is... uh, rare.
Meanwhile, I've also never seen so many Teslas, as well as clothing and jewellery brands which I know for a fact are breathtakingly expensive.
Given all of this, the idea that it makes any sort of sense to reduce the capabilities of any of our infrastructure is transparently nonsense. I wouldn't be surprised if there politicians and other decision-makers making off like bandits on the back of this decision.
(sorry to rant — moving outside of my liberal bubble has been eye-opening to say the least!)
